Fiji's SCGC executives wants administrative arm retained

11:51 am on 2 September 2009

Fiji's Sugar Cane Growers Council executives have asked for its administrative arm to be retained so growers can save 375,000 US dollars in legal fees.

The Fiji Times reports council chairman, Jain Kumar, as saying they've been saving this much annually instead of spending it on law firms.

The administration arm looks after, among other things, lease transfers, deeds, probates, power of attorney and wills.

In another development, the National Farmers Union said it would continue to serve growers despite the SCGC's dissolution.
