ANZ appoints new CEO for Pacific division

ANZ has announced the appointment of Michael Rowland as Chief Executive Officer of the Pacific.

Mr Rowland is currently Chief Financial Officer and General Manager of Strategy & Marketing at ANZ's Institutional Division.

As CEO he will be responsible for the leading bank and business in the Pacific across 12 countries including American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Timor-Leste and Guam, which together employ more than 2,000 people.

He will take up the role of CEO Pacific mid-November and one of his earliest priorities will be to visit Pacific countries to meet with staff, customers, governments and regulators.

This follows the appointment of current CEO Pacific, Craig Sims, who will now be Head of Integration for ANZ's acquisition of selected Royal Bank of Scotland Group businesses in Asia.
