Pomare vows to pay French Polyensia bond

The French Polynesian man planning to be installed as Tahiti's king, Joinville Pomare, says he will pay a 20,000 US dollar bond to avoid being jailed.

The money is due today but earlier this week, Mr Pomare said he was prepared to be jailed over the matter.

According to Tahitipresse, his lawyer has suggested that he won't be imprisoned right away if he fails to pay the money today.

Today's planned coronation has been put off until an unspecified day after several groups restricted access to the site Mr Pomare had selected for the ceremony.
