One man was shot dead and another is in a critical condition after an early morning shooting yesterday in Papua New Guinea's Mt Hagen.
The two men are believed to be security guards from Chimbu province.
The Police commander of Western Highlands, Kaiglo Ambane, says the shooting is believed to have happened during an attempted robbery.
"Criminal gangs tried to get into premises, they broke into them, but then they opened fire on security guards deployed in the premises. They shot two, one fatal, one seriously wounded."
Kaiglo Ambane says they are talking to witnesses and have identified ten suspects.
