New American Samoa bid to fund off-island medical programme

Several lawmakers in American Samoa have identified funds for the LBJ hospital to pay its off-island medical referral programme.

A bill introduced in both the Senate and House wants to re-allocate three million US dollars from the government's 20 million US dollar loan to fund the programme.

It says that appropriations approved in prior years continue to go unfunded, thereby adding to the problem and placing the medical well-being of local residents in jeopardy.
