Fiji tops medal table at Pacific Mini Games

It was rest day for the athletes yesterday at the Pacific Mini Games in Rarotonga following a full programme on Saturday night.

Most sports finished their programme with Fiji dominating.

"It was another golden day for Fiji as they head the medals table going into the last week of competitions. They scooped gold in the mens and womens 400 metres hurdles and cleaned up in both the mens and womens 4x100 and 4x400 metres relays. Tahiti spoiled the party winning the long jump while New Caledonia took gold in the mens discus. New Caledonia and Tahiti won the mens and womens half marathon. Papua New Guinea added another medal to their tally winning the womens team squash event. A full card for finals night at boxing with Tahiti dominating and Nauru winnng their first gold. The rugby league sevens joins the competition today with four teams vying for gold. Fiji top the table with 14 gold ,Tahiti second with 19 New Caledonia with 15 and hosts Cook Islands 7."
