The Solomon Islands parliamentary review into the country's National Referral Hospital has heard there is a increase in cancer cases among young Solomon Islanders.

At the parliamentary select committe hearing, senior doctors from the national referral hospital have told the panel, that more and more young Solomon Islanders are being diagonised with cancer.

They also revealed that there has been a 60-percent increase in cervical cancer cases amongst Solomon Islands women.

The chairman of the panel, MP Peter Boyers, noted that the hospital still does not have the diagnostic equipment needed to detect cancers.

He says it is becoming obvious that the hospital lacks what is needed to operate properly in this day and age.
