Pacific governments called on to re-think development approach

Pacific islands governments are being called on to turn the challenge presented by the global economic crisis into an opportunity to rethink their approach to development.

This was the consensus when a group of eminent Pacific thinkers held a recent East-West Center workshop on how the region could respond to the crisis.

The workshop was called Pacific Responses to the Economic Crisis: "Business as Usual" or "Getting Growth Right"?

The group agreed that only by focusing on their core values and considering different approaches towards growth could the future they desire for their people be realised.
