Papua New Guinea's leading palm oil company has done a deal with one of the world's most successful chocolate makers.

New Britain Palm Oil Limited has entered into a five-year supply agreement with the Europe based company, Ferrero, which makes products such as Tic-Tacs, Nutella and Kinder.

The Post Courier newspaper reports the PNG company's chief executive, Nick Thompson, saying they are delighted to now have a long term relationship to supply Ferrero with fresh, high quality, sustainable crude palm oil.

New Britain Palm Oil has 44,500 hectares in oil palm trees that are certified as conforming to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil's criteria on sustainability.

Ferrero says the deal underlines its commitment to sourcing ethically and sustainably produced raw materials where possible.
