Fiji plummets in press freeedom index

Fiji has seen a dramatic drop on the Press Freedom Index published by the organisation, Reporters Without Borders.

It lost 73 places to 152nd position of the 175 countries listed.

The only other Pacific Island country listed in the index is Papua New Guinea, which is unchanged in 56th position.

The top dozen countries are European, with New Zealand ranked highest in the rest of the world.

The US is in 20th place, France in 43rd and China in 168th while Eritrea is bottom of the list.
