United States and Marshall Islands leaders want better performance in government services, and have set new performance data reporting requirements to help the ministries of health and education.

The Marshall Islands government Chief Secretary, Casten Nemra, says the ministries need to get credible data so issues can be properly analysed and sound decisions made

Two resolutions from the recent Joint Economic Management and Financial Accountability Committee meeting in Honolulu call on the Marshall Islands to improve its collection of data and to strengthen the link between data and budgeting.

The committee meets every year to oversee and approve the about 35 million US dollars in US grant funding for the Marshall Islands under the Compact of Free Association.
