American Samoa to publish donations received for relief effort

10:26 am on 29 October 2009

American Samoa plans to publicize donations received by the territory following the September 29 disasters.

The effort will be coordinated by the newly established American Samoa Disaster Relief and Recovery Program, which has established a specific account for all donations.

There have been questions raised by the public with the media as to whether the government will reveal to the public all of the donations.

Last week Ben Te'o, who is also the vice president of the Common Cause American Samoa, wrote to Governor Togiola Tulafono asking the Governor to make public all donations.

Evelyn Vaitautolu Langford, the Governor's Authorized Representative, or GAR, says they will be submitting this week a public notice with the "Rebuilding our Community with Confidence" program and donors who have contributed to relief efforts so far.

She hopes to have the notice out before the end of the week.
