American Samoa's department of education is increasing its counselling services to all schools in the territory, following last month's tsunami.

The counselling team started with five members following the tsunami but has since increased it to 30, which includes a team from the safe and drug free programme.

The Programme director for guidance and counselling, Maria Tuato'o says they started working in five schools.

"We're targetting 10 schools, but now we've increased it to 14, and we've just heard that we're going to make it equitable for all because its actually bringing dialogue and healing even for those who weren't affected. It's trauma and loss and and grieving."

Maria Tuato'o says they are thankful for all the people who have donated relief supplies for the children, including one person who has sent 1,000 teddy bears.
