Participants in Vanuatu's third national art festival marched in traditional dress through the main street of Port Vila this morning to the venue near the national Parliamant.
The official opening was marked by a pig killing ceremony in which the chiefs of Efate are thanked for making their island available to host the event.
This afternoon will see each island demonstrate the cutting of canoes and the weaving of sails.
