9:09 pm on 18 November 2009

The cabinet reshuffle carried out by Vanuatu's Prime Minister, Edward Natapei, last night

will cost the country over 35 million vatu or around 375-thousand US dollars.

The director general of finance, George Maniuri, says that the amount covers the breaching of 4-year contracts of the 7 terminated ministers, their political advisers and the speaker of the parliament.

It is the second major cabinet reshuffle that Mr Natapei has conducted since he came to power just over a year ago.
