Solomons government seeks funds to manage year

4:09 pm on 9 December 2009

The Solomon Islands government is seeking an extra four million US dollars from parliament to ensure government services continue until the end of the year.

According to the Solomon Star, the Finance Minister Snyder Rini says government finances will remain very tight for the rest of the year.

But he says the government has acted decisively to ensure it can deliver on its programmes in a challenging environment.

The Finance Minister asked for the extra funds as part of a supplementary appropriation bill which also covers expenditure that's already been authorised.
