The authorities in Fiji have confirmed two deaths on the main island of Viti Levu, after a category two cyclone overnight.

Cyclone Mick swept over Viti Levu after passing over the tourist destinations of the Yasawa and Mamanuca islands yesterday.

Fiji's National Disaster Management Office says a young boy was killed by a falling tree and a 23-year-old man drowned during the storm.

Two other people are still missing, after being swept away by currents.

The office says only one major road on the island is closed and power has been restored to much of the capital, Suva.

At least two houses have reportedly been destroyed.
