The speaker of the Vanuatu parliament, Maxime Carlot Korman, may resign today ahead of a motion seeking his removal.
This morning, Mr Carlot Korman announced that the motion against him would be debated this afternoon.
The motion was deposited by the minister of finance, Sela Molisa, and the minister of internal affairs, Moana Carcasses Kalosil, two weeks ago when the speaker unsuccessfully tried to declare the prime minister's seat vacant.
The motion was supposed to be debated last Tuesday but Mr Carlot Korman ruled at that time that the motion was not in order.
When approving it, he said he would step down ahead of any vote.
