The Solomon Islands National Parliament has passed a 228 million US dollar budget for the year 2010.

The budget underwent furious debate and close scrutiny by the country's opposition and is being described as a budget with a huge shortfall.

The opposition side of the house are already predicting a supplementary appropriation bill before the new financial year is complete.

The last session for 2009 is expected to close today with the Prime Minister Dr Dereck Sikua moving the Sine Die motion late in the afternoon yesterday.
