American Samoa post-tsunami rebuilding programme starts next week

Construction of permanent homes in American Samoa for those affected by the last September's earthquake and tsunami is scheduled to begin next week.

The Governor, Togiola Tulafono, says the construction for the permanent housing programme is for families who chose to have the Federal Emergency Management Agency contractors build their houses.

Togiola says site inspections have begun for approval of work orders with the permanent housing construction programme.

Two weeks ago, the Agency verified 277 homes as destroyed by the disasters and more than 50 individuals or families have expressed interest in having a home constructed by it.
