The Fiji interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, says Methodist church ministers are currently being paid by the Fiji Police Force Special Branch to act as informers for the police and the military.
Commodore Bainimarama has told Radio Fiji that this has been confirmed by the Police Commissioner.
The interim prime minister has also announced that there will be no permit until 2014 for the Methodist Church to hold its conference.
Last year, the church briefly considered defying the regime and hold its conference.
Nine church ministers and officials have since appeared in court charged with organising meetings in contravention to the Public Emergency Regulation.
