Guam to conduct homeless census

10:02 am on 19 January 2010

Guam is to conduct a count of its homeless population at the end of the month.

Greg Borja, the chairman of the Homeless Population Count , says gathering this data is important if the territory is to stop homelessness.

He says the purpose of the count is to continue to bring the much-needed funds to the programs that will help homeless people and families across the island.

The count will also help officials know what kinds of services homeless individuals need.

It is estimated that more than 1,000 homeless people are living on Guam.
