The Methodist Church in Fiji is to meet the police commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni, this week to discuss an investigation into some church ministers who are alleged to have been on the police payroll to provide information to the Qarase government which the military ousted in 2006.
The church's assistant general secretary, the Reverend Tevita Nawadra, has told the Fijivillage website that once the investigations are done, those ministers who are found guilty will be penalised.
The ministers are alleged to have supplied information about the military to the government as the military leaders schemed to stage a coup.
Last week, the interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, banned the Methodists' annual conference for four years over the matter.
