A new qualification in traditional healing among Pacific communities is being launched in New Zealand today.

The Diploma in Traditional Pasefika Healing will be taught at the South Pacific College of Natural Therapies in Auckland from next month.

The college's Pacific Relations Manager, Ueligitone Malifa, says they've consulted widely among traditional healers and community leaders nationwide and in the region on how best to teach the one year long course.

"Its not about trying to take away our fofos from our people, but its about sharing and offering to had in terms of qualifications certificates, diplomas and now degrees. It's all NZQA approved."
