Police to deport 7 Chinese women said to have been involved in prostitution

A drive against prostitution and related offences in underway in Fiji under new powers brought in by this month's Crimes Decree.

Fiji Live says police in joint operation with officers from the Immigration department arrested 9 Asians in four separate house raids conducted in Suva Friday night.

Assistant police spokesperson Sergeant Suliano Tevita said 7 Chinese women and and 2 Chinese men will be deported today.

Sergeant Tevita said the seven Chinese women had bridged conditions of their work permits, and were engaging in prostitution activities.

The two Chinese men had overstayed thier visas.
