8:15 am on 9 February 2010

The Cook Islands police say tropical cyclone Pat is no longer a threat to the Northern Cook Islands.

Police inspector John Strickland says the cyclone is now moving away from the Northern Cook Islands and there have been no reports of damage.

He says the cyclone is now moving towards the south.

"With its present course, which is moving south east and its moving pretty fast at about 12 knots, it means it is coming towards the Southern Cooks, which is about 320 miles north east of Aitutaki."
