An American Samoa government preliminary report indicates that plantations on Manu'a suffered major damage from Tropical Cyclone Rene.

It also adds that only a handful of homes saw minor damages.

Throughout the Manu'a islands, which is believed to have received the brunt of Tropical Cyclone Rene, there is wide spread extensive damage to vegetation with uproot trees.

A vessel, charted from the Samoa government, departed last night from Pago Pago to Manu'a taking supplies and other goods.

The vessel is also expected to take private cargo.

For the main island of Tutuila, the preliminary report says there were no reports of damage to homes or government property.
