The police in Vanuatu says the establishment of eight new police stations will help resolve a lack of police presence in remote areas.
Plans are under way to build new stations across the country including Low Island, Sola, Malo, Pentecost and Santo.
The Police Commissioner Joshua Bong says there are currently only four main police stations and says despite some police being deployed to remote areas without a station, the service provided to them is inefficient.
"Every citizen, they have the rights to have the same justice, especially in Vanuatu. But with establishing these new police posts or sub posts, that will allow all the remote areas to have the same service delivery."
Joshua Bong says funding is available for construction to begin on two stations in the north and one in the south.
