PNG hospital management locked out in dispute with staff

5:26 pm on 17 February 2010

The chief executive officer and several senior officers at the Modilon Hospital in PNG's Madang province were locked out of their offices by disgruntled staff early this week.

The Post Courier newspaper reports the acting CEO Sister Christine Gawi, and several colleagues were approached by other workers and asked to vacate their offices before pieces of timber were nailed across the door denying them access.

A spokesman Hugh Saweni says the incident came after several staff meetings had failed to resolve issues.
