The commissioner of Vanuatu's Police Force, Joshua Bong, says there will be no peaceful protest for West Papua in Port Vila as planned on Monday Lini's day.
Mr Bong says his office has received information about the protest but there was no application attached with it to explain the details of the march.
He said the application is one of the requirements under the Vanuatu's laws to stage a protest in the country.
Mr Bong says the application has to be approved four working days before the event takes place.
He says he has already informed the office of the minister that, officially, there is no application for Monday's protest.
