The recommendation by the Solomon Islands Boundaries Commission to have 17 new constituencies will be too costly tot he government.
A financial assessment carried out by the Ministry of Finance has found that it will cost the government a extra 5 point seven million US dollars per year to fund the new M-Ps.
The recommendation is to be tabled in the upcoming sitting of the Solomon Island's National Parliament and has already been tabled in cabinet.
The Solomon Islands constitution mandates a review of the boundaries every ten years.
