The American Samoan member of the US Congress, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, has asked the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, to help lobby the president to visit Pago Pago.
President Barack Obama will be visiting Australia, Indonesia and Guam in the second week of March.
Faleomavaega says this offers a rare chance for a presidential visit.
"Coming back from Australia I just thought it would be perfect opportunity for him to stop by in American Samoa on his way back to Washington."
