A Toyota dealer in American Samoa estimates that 87 vehicles in the territory are affected by Toyota's recall due to problems with a floor mat entrapment and a stuck accelerator pedal.

Asco Motors says twenty of the vehicles have not been sold, while 67 were sold to local customers.

The car dealer said between 8 and 12 vehicles were imported by individuals on their own.

The Toyota recall was the subject of a hearing on Thursday by the House transportation Committee chaired by Representative, Vaitoa Hans Langkilde.

Assistant Attorney General, Kevin Kornegay, who is in charge of the consumer Protection Bureau say it's working closely with ASCO Motors in contacting clients with vehicles being recalled

The car dealer is inspecting the vehicles and replacing parts that are defective.
