The fight against HIV/AIDS in the region is set to receive a further boost with the regional launch of a report by the Pacific AIDS Commission in Papua New Guinea this Thursday.

The commission is funded by UNAIDS and the report was officially launched in New York last December to coincide with World AIDS Day.

Its chair, Samoa's Deputy Prime Minister, Misa Telefoni, says they'll launch the report in PNG, because it has some many afflicted with HIV/AIDS.

"We're having a major launch in Papua New Guinea with the Governor General. We're doing it in the Papua New Guinea Parliament with a lot of international exposure. We're going to engage civil societies with what we're trying to do."
