Samoa court dismisses fraud charges against Nigerian man

9:19 am on 25 March 2010

A Nigerian man, William Emanuel Okoro, who was accused of obtaining 10,000 US dollars through fraud and theft in Samoa has walked free after a district court judge, Tauiliili Fao Harry Schuster, dismissed the two criminal charges against him.

The judge dismissed the case because of a fault in law in the police charges.

Representing himself, the accused denied obtaining a large amount of money by fraud from a former employee of the Samoa Foreign Exchange money company last July.

The police are considering appealing the decision before Mr Okoro leaves the country.
