Former NPF employee in Samoa jailed for stealing from pension funds

The man who masterminded a huge theft from the Samoa National Provident Fund's pension fund has been jailed for just over five years by the Supreme Court.

47 year old Tautai Fata, was convicted of burglary and the theft of more than 200,000 US dollars from the pension scheme.

Tautai was an employee at the Provident Fund at the time of the crime.

Another man involved, Sione Ta'ateo, had been sentenced last year to three years jail.
