The Fiji interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, says he has won the World Bank's support for the regime's land reforms.

Commodore Bainimarama has told the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation that a World Bank team will visit Fiji later this month.

He says the reform initiative is expected to benefit cane farmers.

During his recent tours of the country, Commodore Bainiamarama said he heard first hand of the struggle and problems cane farmers go through.

The sugar sector has been affected by sanctions by the European Union.
