CNMI College president sacked over grade fixing

The board of regents of the Northern Marianas College has sacked its president, Dr Carmen Fernandez, three months after she was suspended after allegations she had changed students' grades.

The term of the former Guam senator was terminated on a 4-3 vote by the regents, who based their decision on the results of investigations by the Attorney General's Office and the college's lawyer.

The twin investigations confirmed the allegations, which included the unauthorised changing of grades and other personnel matters.

The interim president, Lorraine Cabrera, is to continue in the role until a new college president is named.
