The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation in the Northern Marianas is threatening to disconnect the Public School System, Northern Marianas College, and even the central government.
The move is due to overdue accounts totaling 5.1 million US dollars.
The CUC executive director, Tony Muna, says because of the serious financial challenge facing it, these big accounts would soon be disconnected from service if payment plans are not immediately made.
It added that due to the payment delay, it has been forced to divert funds intended for its non-fuel collections just to ensure the continuous delivery of fuel.
The CUC spends 4 million US dollars a month for fuel, or 1 million dollars for each delivery Mobil Oil makes every week.
