Fiji's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, says his country has seen a demise in the last ten years and he says that is the result of the policies of the SVT and SDL.
According to FBC News, he says the two parties cultivated racial discrimination and animosity to hold on to power.
The SVT dominated Fiji politics from 1992 to 1999 and the SDL was first elected in 2001 - a year after the Labour-run government was ousted in a coup.
Commmodore Bainimarama went on to say that the problem with indigenous Fijians was that they did not speak their mind, or were upfront about issues, allowing politicians to manipulate them.
Since the coup he staged in 2006, he has said the SDL will not return to power.
