Samoa RAMSI officer on bail

The High Court in Solomon Islands has granted bail to a Samoan RAMSI officer after he pleaded guilty to his charges which resulted in the death of a young woman in 2008.

According to the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation, Justice Rex Foukona granted an application for bail from Matamu Misi to be released under restricted conditions until the date of his sentence.

Misi pleaded guilty to the charges of reckless driving causing death and reckless driving causing danger to another person, which resulted in the death of a young nurse in 2008.

Under his bail conditions Misi will reside where he is in Honiara, is to surrender his passport to the High Court, live in the Solomon Islands and attend Court on a later date.

Misi will be sentenced on the 20th of May.
