Nurses on CNMI's Rota have not received wages March

8:13 am on 12 May 2010

Nurses at a health centre in the Northern Marianas have not been paid since early March.

The 11 staff at the Rota Health Center have not received their wages over four pay periods from March 26th through to last week.

Rota lawmakers and the nurses say it's because the Government has failed to pay around 200 thousand US dollars to the Saipan Employment Agency Services, the private firm that provides nurses to the centre.

One of the nurses told our correspondent that they had been patient enough and hope the government and the agency can work how to pay them.

She says they cannot survive any longer without wages.
