Sodomy trial of senior police officer in Samoa to be continued next month

3:13 pm on 24 May 2010

The trial of a Samoa police inspector on a sodomy charge and five other counts of indecency has been adjourned till next week.

Inspector Fineaso Aimaasu was in charge of the Olomanu Juvenile Detention centre four years ago where the alleged crimes occurred.

The victim, who was 19 at the time, has told the court he was the only fa'afafine among the other young offenders at the centre.

He alleged that he performed five indecencies on the defendant in December 2006 and was later sodomised by him.

Inspector Aimaasu, who's suspended, has denied the allegations.

Evidence in his defence will be heard when the case continues from the 3rd of June.
