Power again rationed on Samoa's Upolu island

Many businesses and families on Upolu Island in Samoa are being affected by the Electric Power Corporation's rationing.

This follows technical problems to some of the main generators at the Tanugamanono power plant.

It is the second time in a few weeks that the EPC is rationing power supply to nearly every village on Upolu, which includes the capital, Apia.

Samoa's only electricity provider is urging consumers to rely on small power generators during the crisis as maintenance work is continuing on one of

their generators.

Last month, the rationing of electricity supply was prompted by a low water supply to the main hydropower plant.
