Fiji consumers warned of possible increases in electricity tariffs

Fiji consumers are now being warned of possible increases in electricity tariffs following a submission from the Fiji Electricity Authority to the Commerce Commission for a fuel surcharge.

Its chief executive, Hasmukh Patel, said weather and fuel experts had predicted average and below average rainfalls and rising fuel prices.

Mr Patel says the submission follows the same model of the fuel surcharge of US$2.66 cents that had been implemented until March 4 last year.
