New Caledonia's Brazilian-owned nickel company has again changed its name.

The company is now to be known as Vale New Caledonia and no longer as Vale Inco.

The company has been due to launch its nickel processing plant in the territory's south since last year but has suffered setbacks in its testing regime, including an acid spill into the lagoon.

Vale, which is the world's leading iron ore producer, took over the project in Goro from the Canadian company Inco.
