Vanautu parliament defers debate on report about police abuse

The Vanuatu Parliament is now expected to debate recommendations in a Coroner's Report on policing in the country later this month.

The controversial report, produced three months ago, had criticised police practices and called for sweeping changes.

To date the government has said little about it although the police recently committed to the pursuit of good governance.

The report was to be tabled in parliament this week but an unexpected adjournment stalled this.

Now sources say it's likely to be presented during an extraordinary parliamentary session starting on June the 14th.
