Samoa's Parliament postponed for rugby sevens celebration

5:11 am on 7 June 2010

The beginning of Samoa's parliamentary debate over the last budget before next year's general election has been called off celebrations over the win by the sevens rugby team.

The budget was tabled at the end of last month and adjourned for debate to start tomorrow.

But the government has declared a public holiday to celebrate the Manu Samoa sevens team win in the recent IRB sevens series.

It is expected the budget debate will start when parliament will resume sometime this week.
