Fiji plans termite extermination

Fiji's interim government is considering spending more than two million US dollars on termite extermination.

The Fiji Sun reports a budget for the Exterra Interception and Baiting System is being considered by the Director of Biosecurity and the Permanent Secretary for Agriculture.

Authorities have been battling the termites in Lautoka where hundreds of houses, and several schools have found to be infested.

A cargo ship from Samoa docked in Lautoka is being sprayed and decontaminated after termites were discovered on board.
