A Tautua Samoa party MP and former minister in the ruling HRPP party, Palusalue Fa'apo II, has accused the government of putting too much money into pro-government committees.
He says the budget for the next financial year passed last week allocates more than four million US dollars for salaries and allowances of advisory ministerial committees.
The opposition MP, who was returned in a recent by-election, says all selected members of ministerial committees are loyal supporters of the ruling party.
Palusalue, who was the minister of Broadcasting and Telecommunication, told reporters the creating of ministerial committees by the HRPP was for political purposes.
But the Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, has dismissed the allegation.
He says members of advisory ministerial committees are selected among mature chiefs and orators and their task is to provide the government with advice on the development of the country.
